Our method, in plain English

How We Check Burger King Prices

Every one of our Burger King prices comes from a real, dated observation: a receipt, a menu board, the official app or a delivery app. Each one is checked for sense before it goes live, and we show a typical price and a range instead of pretending that one number fits every restaurant.

This page explains exactly how we check Burger King prices, where the numbers come from and what our labels mean. If anything here is unclear, contact us.

Why Burger King prices are hard to pin down

Burger King does not publish one national price list. Nearly all US restaurants are owned by franchisees, and each owner sets prices for their own location. As a result, a Whopper can cost noticeably more in an airport or a big city than in a small town.

The official app only shows prices after you choose a specific restaurant. Therefore, any site that shows a single "official" price for the whole country is guessing. We would rather show you what people actually paid, where and when.

Where our Burger King prices come from

Receipts and menu boards

Readers and our own checks record the price, the restaurant's city and state, and the date.

The official app

We record prices from the Burger King app for a chosen restaurant, which match its in-store menu.

Delivery apps

We note delivery prices separately, because they are often higher than in-store prices.

Reader reports

Anyone can send a price from an item page. Reports wait in a review queue and never go live automatically.

When the site launched, some starting estimates came from public price trackers. Those entries are labeled as tracker sources, and newer checks replace them as they arrive.

How we calculate the typical price and range

For each item and size, we take every approved price from the last few months. The typical price is the median, which is the middle value, so one very high or very low receipt cannot drag it far. The range shows the lowest and highest prices we have recorded.

For state prices, we wait until we have at least five recent checks from at least two different cities. Until a state reaches that bar, we show the national figure and a progress bar instead of a misleading local number.

How prices stay current automatically

Fast-food prices rise a little almost every month. So, once a week the site downloads the official Consumer Price Index for limited-service meals published by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Each recorded price is then moved forward by the real change in restaurant prices since the day it was recorded, and rounded to a menu-style price.

For example, if restaurant prices rose 2% since a Whopper price was recorded, that price is shown 2% higher. New reader reports and price checks are added on top, so the typical price follows what people actually pay. If the index cannot be downloaded, prices simply keep their last values until the next run.

What our labels mean

LabelMeaning
Updated automaticallyPrices move forward every week with the official U.S. restaurant price index.
All sources agreeEvery recent check shows the same price.
1 source so farWe have only one check, so treat the price as a rough guide.
Price not yet collectedWe do not have a reliable price yet. You can help by reporting one.

How we track deals and new items

Deals change faster than prices. So, we mark each offer as live, ending soon or upcoming. A deal disappears automatically when it passes its end date or when nobody has confirmed it for 60 days, and we only mark a new item as live once we see it in the app or on a real menu board.

We watch Burger King's official newsroom and trusted food news sources for launches. Even so, the Burger King app remains the final word for what your restaurant offers today.

Nutrition and allergen data

Calories, nutrients and allergens come from Burger King's published US nutrition information, matched to each size and build. We do not estimate or round these figures ourselves, apart from the formatting you see on the page.

What we never do

  • We never copy prices from Burger King's own ordering system automatically or present them as official.
  • We never publish a reader report that falls far outside the normal price range without checking it first.
  • We never accept payment to change a price, a ranking or a review.
  • We never list promo codes we cannot verify.

Help us keep Burger King prices accurate

If you paid a different price, use the form below or the report button on any item page. Your report helps everyone in your state get a more accurate local price.
